The Investor Services segment offers a range of services and products, including retail brokerage, investment advisory, banking and trust, retirement plan, and other corporate brokerage services; equity compensation plan sponsors full-service recordkeeping for stock plans, stock options, restricted stock, performance shares, and stock appreciation rights; and retail investor and mutual fund clearing services, as well as compliance solutions. The segment also provides brokerage accounts with equity and fixed income, margin lending, options, and futures and forex trading; cash management capabilities comprising third-party certificates of deposit; third-party and proprietary mutual funds; plus mutual fund trading and clearing services; and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), including proprietary and third-party ETFs.

The Advisor Services segment serves registered investment advisors, financial advisors, and fee-based advisors. The segment offers custodial, trading, banking, and support services; and retirement business and corporate brokerage retirement services. It also provides advice solutions, such as managed portfolios of proprietary and third-party mutual funds and ETFs, separately managed accounts, customized personal advice for tailored portfolios, and specialized planning and portfolio management. In addition, this segment offers banking products and services, including checking and savings accounts, first lien residential real estate mortgage loans, home equity lines of credit, and pledged asset lines; and trust services comprising trust custody services, personal trust reporting services, and administrative trustee services.

Charles Schwab Corporation was founded in 1971 by entrepreneur Charles R. Schwab, and today is one of the largest full-service investment brokerage firms in the world. It has approximately $4.1 trillion in client assets and 15 million active brokerage accounts. As of 2021, it is the third-largest asset manager in the world, with over $4.1 trillion of assets under management (AUM). Charles Schwab Corporation also has a retail banking presence with over 1,000 branches and loan centers in the U.S. In addition to its retail banking business, the corporation has operations in wealth management, trust services, and investment management. It has approximately 16,600 employees in the U.S. and employees in 35 countries. It is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol SCHW.
