NN Group N.V. is one of the leading financial services companies in the Netherlands and globally, primarily providing life insurance products to its customers in the Netherlands and abroad. The company operates through six distinct segments: Netherlands Life, Netherlands Non-life, Insurance Europe, Japan Life, Banking, and Other. The Netherlands Life segment offers products such as group life and individual life insurance, pension products, employee benefits, health insurance products, and corporate-owned life insurance products, as well as single premium variable annuity insurance products. The Netherlands Non-life segment provides non-life insurance products such as motor, fire, liability, transport, travel, and disability and accident insurance. The Insurance Europe and Japan Life segments offer similar products both in Europe and Japan. The Banking segment provides services such as mortgage loans, online savings accounts, bank annuities, consumer lending, and retail investment products, as well as administration and management services. Lastly, the Other segment includes the company’s reinsurance services and retirement products and services.

NN Group N.V. products are sold directly, as well as through tied agents, bancassurance partners, brokers, and direct channels. The company’s origins can be traced back to 1845 when it was founded in the Hague, the Netherlands. Until 2014, it was known as ING Insurance Topholding N.V., but then was renamed to NN Group N.V. to better reflect the new group forming from the merger of ING and Nationale-Nederlanden. During the past decade, the company has acquired several companies across Europe, such as Omega Insurance and BSN Generali Nederlands, which have enabled it to expand its product offerings and services. In 2018, NN Group N.V. reported a total turnover of €20.4 billion with a profit of €2.4 billion. The company employs more than 19,000 people in around 17 countries and serves 13 million customers worldwide.
