This segment also offers financial instruments, underwrites securities and other financial instruments, and arranges private placements. In addition, the Wholesale segment provides financial advisory services such as merger and acquisition, capital structuring, and corporate defense activities.

Since its founding, Nomura Holdings has become one of the largest global financial institutions. It is the world’s largest brokerage firm in terms of equities traded and volume of transactions. As of December 2021, it had total assets of ¥40 trillion, total equity of ¥3.5 trillion, and total deposits of ¥15 trillion. In 2020, the company had 3,722 offices in more than 30 countries and regions. In the same year, it had over 36,000 employees, with 12,000 serving as financial advisors. Nomura Holdings also operates a number of subsidiaries in China, the United States, Europe, and other parts of Asia.
