Interactive Brokers Group, Inc. is a publicly traded brokerage firm operating in the electronic brokerage space. The company was founded by Thomas Peterffy in 1977 and is headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut. It is a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC). Interactive Brokers offers customers an extensive suite of trading services, including execution, clearing and settlement on more than 150 exchanges and market venues across the globe. It is regulated by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), as well as various other regulatory authorities in the countries in which it operates.

Interactive Brokers offers its clients a range of different platform options including their proprietary Trader WorkStation (TWS), the web-based Client Portal, the mobile app TWS Mobile, and the API Trader. The company also provides access to bonds, mutual funds, options, futures, commodities and foreign stocks on more than 50 exchanges worldwide. It is one of the largest electronic market makers, offering deep liquidity in stocks, options and futures.

Interactive Brokers’ most recent financial results show that as of December 2020, the company had total customer equity of $151.2 billion and 17 million customer accounts, representing a 17.0% increase from a year earlier. The company generated total brokerage revenues of $2.0 billion for the year, mostly from commissions and fees, resulting in a net income of $272 million. As of December 2020, the company employed 4,780 staff worldwide.
