Griffon Corporation was founded by George Sheetz in 1959 as the Instrument Systems Corporation. After the purchase of AMES Companies, Inc. in 1992, Instrument Systems Corporation changed its name to Griffon Corporation. Since then, Griffon Corporation has grown to represent a large portfolio of companies and businesses in four segments - Home & Building Products, Consumer & Professional Products, Specialty Distribution and Other.
