ALLETE, Inc. is a power supplier which runs through three segments: Regulated Operations, ALLETE Clean Energy, and Corporate and Other. It produces electricity through a variety of sources such as coal, biomass-co-fired, natural gas, hydropower, wind, and solar. Additionally, it offers regulated utility electric services to around 15,000 electric customers in northwestern Wisconsin as well as 13,000 gas customers. As customers, the company serves approximately 145,000 retail and 10,000 water customers, plus 15 non-affiliated municipal customers with regulated utility electric services in northeastern Minnesota. It also owns and keeps up electric transmission assets in four US states: Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and Illinois. Furthermore, they are strongly interested in developing, buying, and operating clean and renewable energy projects, and currently owns and operates an energy production facility with a power capability of 1000MW from wind energy. Additionally, ALLETE, Inc. has a presence in North Dakota’s coal mining industry, and real estate investments in Florida. It currently owns and runs 158 power substations with a total output of 10,066 megavolt amperes, and its services are used in taconite mining, paperwork, pulp and secondary wood production, pipelines and other fields. Previously known as Minnesota Power, Inc., the company changed its name to ALLETE, Inc. ALLETE, Inc. was established in 1906 and is based in Duluth, Minnesota, with the incorporation taking place in May 2001.
