Arkema S.A. is a French specialty chemicals and advanced materials manufacturer, founded in 2003 and headquartered in Colombes, France. The company operates four main business divisions: Adhesive Solutions, Advanced Materials, Coating Solutions and Intermediates.

Adhesive Solutions. Arkema offers adhesive solutions for construction, renovation of buildings, DIY, durable goods, and packaging and non-woven applications. Its technologies are used in building activities for businesses and individuals, including sealants, tiles, flooring adhesives and waterproofing systems, and technologies used in industry, including automotive, textiles, glazing, flexible and rigid packaging, and hygiene markets.

Advanced Materials. Arkema’s advanced materials include specialty polyamides and polyvinylidene fluoride and performance additives such as specialty surfactants, molecular sieves, organic peroxides, thiochemicals, and hydrogen peroxide. These are used in automotive and transportation, oil and gas, renewable energies, consumer goods, electronics, construction, coatings, animal nutrition, and water treatment sectors.

Coating Solutions. Arkema provides coating solutions, including EU/US acrylics and coating resins, sartomer photocure resins and coatex rheology additives, decorative paints and industrial coatings, adhesives, and solutions for the paper, superabsorbents, water treatment, oil and gas extraction, 3D printing, and electronics industries.

Intermediates. The company also supplies a range of industrial intermediate chemicals. These are used in construction, refrigeration and air conditioning, automotive, coatings, and water treatment sectors, and include fluorogases and acrylics.

Arkema is a global leader, operating in more than 55 countries, employing 20,000 people and with 7 research and development centers. The company’s core markets are Europe, North America and China, accounting for around 70% of its sales. Arkema has grown significantly in the last few years, reaching a turnover of €8.2 billion in 2018, up 10.7% in constant currencies compared to 2017. It reported an operating margin of 13.6%. It is committed to innovation, investing more than $570 million in research and development in 2019, 9.8% of its turnover.
