Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings, Inc. is an aerospace and defense company that designs, develops, manufactures, and sells products and systems in the United States. It operates in two segments, Aerospace and Defense and Real Estate. The Aerospace and Defense segment provides propulsion systems and armament systems for the U.S. government, NASA, and other aerospace and defense prime contractors. Its propulsion systems include liquid and solid rocket propulsion systems, air-breathing hypersonic engines, and electric power and propulsion systems for space, defense, civil, and commercial applications. The Real Estate segment focuses on the re-zoning, entitlement, sale, and leasing of the company’s excess real estate assets, including 11,277 acres of land adjacent to the United States Highway 50 between Rancho Cordova and Folsom, California east of Sacramento.

Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings, Inc. began with the incorporation of General Tire and Rubber Company in 1915. In 1994, General Tire and Rubber Company changed its name to GenCorp Inc. and it was divided into four separately traded companies, with one of them Aerojet Corporation. In 2013, Aerojet and Rocketdyne merged and became Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings, Inc. In 2020, Aerojet Rocketdyne and United Launch Alliance (ULA) recently entered into a definitive agreement whereby ULA will acquire Aerojet Rocketdyne’s propulsion systems business for $2 billion. The deal is expected to close in mid-2021. The company is headquartered in El Segundo, California and has more than 5,000 employees in 25 locations across the U.S. and international locations in Russia, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
