Covestro AG is the world’s leading polymer materials supplier providing high-tech materials and related application solutions for a variety of industries. The company operates in two segments, Performance Materials, and Solutions & Specialties, working with a range of polymer materials, such as polyurethanes and polycarbonates, and base chemicals, which include diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), toluylene diisocyanate, long-chain polyols, and polycarbonate resins.

The Performance Materials segment produces and supplies materials primarily used in furniture and wood processing, construction, automotive, and transportation industries, as well as roof structures, insulation for buildings and refrigerators, mattresses, car seats, and other applications. The Solutions & Specialties segment provides products such as precursors for coatings and adhesives, polycarbonates, MDI specialties and polyols, specialty films, elastomers, and thermoplastic polyurethanes used in automotive and transportation, electrical, electronics and household appliances, construction, and healthcare industries, as well as composite resins for wind turbine, rotor blades, laptop cases, and floodlights.

The company’s products are marketed through their own trading houses and distributors in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, the United States, Canada, and the People’s Republic of China. Founded in 1863 and headquartered in Leverkusen, Germany, Covestro AG serves more than 30,000 customers across the globe. It employs around 16,800 people and generated sales of €12.1 billion in 2020. The company is continuously expanding its presence in the markets and has recently opened new production facilities in China and the United States.
